In December 2025 we published our AI predictions for 2026. They live on their own site. It has an interactive timeline of 70 years of AI, the AI winners of 2025 and the prompt libraries we rate highest.
The prediction
Agentic AI is ready for production. Most operations are not. We call this the Great Operational Filter: in 2026, operational readiness decides who captures value, more than access to the best model.
Operational readiness means documented workflows, reliable data, clear ownership and measurable controls. Once the workflows are clear and the data is trusted, AI can automate the work. Before that, it amplifies the mess.
Three forces behind it
- Agents are now production-grade. The shift is from asking AI questions to coordinating AI to do real work.
- Operational readiness is the bottleneck. AI shows you how your company works. It does not fix it for you.
- Governance and cost favor the ready. Scale belongs to the companies that prepared.
Our position
"In 2026, AI is not limited by intelligence. It is limited by how companies operate." Agentic AI scales only when a company moves from prompting to orchestration. Deeper automation also makes the work harder to see, so put auditability and human override ahead of raw speed.
Open the full outlook
The site carries the full prediction and the evidence for each force. Its sources are the Stanford HAI AI Index, Crunchbase and media monitoring, read through our operational readiness rubric. It also has a summary written for AI assistants, so your own assistant can read it with you.
